UU events:

All are invited to the following events for the visit of poet and human-rights activist, Christopher D. Sims.

Saturday Feb. 10, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.– meet-n-greet at UU Valdosta, 1951 E. Park Ave.

Christopher Sims will share briefly about his experience in Charlottesville during the white nationalist rally last August. We will have light refreshments and an opportunity to meet and visit with Christopher.

Sunday, Feb. 11, 10:45 a.m. – Sunday morning service at UU Valdosta, 1951 E. Park Ave.

Christopher Sims will provide the message titled: “What Dr. King’s Work has for the Black Lives Matter Movement and Charlottesville.” 

Sunday, Feb. 11, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. – open-mic coffeehouse at Jessie’s Restaurant, 205 N Ashley Street, across from the courthouse.  

Christopher Sims will host an open-mic coffeehouse at Jessie’s Restaurant, open to local fans of poetry, literature, and of course, poets and spoken word artists.   Admission is free; Jessie’s will have beverages available for purchase.   If you are interested in presenting during the open-mic, please send a note with your name and contact information to Carol Stiles at, which we will pass on to Christopher.   Original poems and poetry by your favorite poets are welcome.
